Hello
I have recently bought the motorola v3i and thought all was fine until i set off the security alarm when entering my local co-op store the other day. I thought nothing of it but it went off again when i left and started to get funny stares!! this has since happened a few more times in various other shops. I have been using the same bag for a few months with my old nokia and have never had these problems, i have not added anything else to my bag and have been wearing different clothes each time so it can't be that. Earlier on to test if it was my phone i gave it to my boyfriend and asked him to walk into a boots where i had just set it off, he made the alarm go off and i (minus the phone now) didn't so it is def the phone. As you can imagine it is getting embarassing and i go red very easily! does anyone know why this could be happening with this phone and if there is anything i can do to stop it? big thanks x

Hey Rach912,

The reason why your phone is setting off the security alarms at these random shops is because the phone you are using has a silicon based chip which the alarms are programmed to recognise as one of their secure items. (The grey tags on pricier items)

A number of things can set off these alarms, I've had my travelcard set them off!!

The only other thing that I can think of would be your phone charging EMI (Electo Magnetic Interface) to the point where your phone is emitting enough to set the alarms off.

See if your local phone shop have any tips or get a new one!!
