Over the last weekend did a gig in his (our) home
town of Stoke on Trent.

The gig sold out over 20,000 tickets, bought a LOT of much needed revinue to local
businesses (eateries, pubs etc) and all proceeds from his gig went to local childrens charities.
(He received nothing)

And all the comments on the local press website were demonising him for a few swear words during his performance.......

What is up with people?
Anyone whose familiar with Robbie, knows to expect a few expletives during one of his performances.

The guy bought a whole lot of money into a rundown town, donated his time/fees to local kids charity's and gave 20,000 people a night to remember....
But he said the F word a few times?????

I despair at some peoples logic.

I'm not a great fan of his solo music but he has never hidden the fact he is proud of coming from Stoke. I'm not a fan of swearing either but to a lot of people now it's just part of their vocabulary so I live with it. Good on you, Robbie, I hope Stoke is proud of you.

I'm afraid thats the way of the world these days, a minority offended over nothing make a huge noise, usually via TwitFace and the media think they represent everyone.

Short of stopping TwitFace et al (go Elon!) I'm not sure how it will change.

Well done Robbie I say, 20K is a bit short of his Knebworth gig! Shows he still has his feet on the ground.
I met him once. Nice bloke.

Doubt he's ever going have another number one but neither are the Stones or The Who but can still draw thousands.
(Tickets were limited BTW, could of easily drawn more people given the right venue)

Drank in The Red Lion where he was brought up.
Thats the closest I can get, lol....
Didnt quite mean it that way, I reckon he would fill Knebworth again if he did it.

I was more praising him for being willing to do such a small gig.
I said goodbye to him. He said "See ya darlin" He's quite a big chap when you meet him - much taller than he comes across on film.

Ah, gotcha ;-)
I was there - he didn't swear that much really. I like Robbie anyway and have seen him in concert before so no way was I going to miss this one, especially with it only being 2 and a half miles from home :-D

I imagine him to be about my own height, 6ft.
Dont know why.
video/tv is known to be deceptive.
TV/video normally makes small people look bigger. I`ve met Madonna and she's tiny but looks big on screen. I just expected Robbie to be smaller than he is for some reason.

cheekychops, where you from then?
I would have liked to have been there but couldnt make it.
I was on a bus on the way home from Crewe that passed Burslem that night and saw everyone and the crowds that night.
Would have loved to have been there.

Ive met Jeremy Beadle...
On second thoughts lets not go there....

(joking apart, he was MUCH smaller than he appeared on TV.)
Such a nice bloke tho. He didnt deserve the stick he got.
Didn't you know that reporters don't use the F word?!! They are clean living, hard working paragons.
there is something about that man. he seems like an utter dick, but when he sings "get on your knees" i can't help but think "alright then"
Bernard Manning did similar things for charity, many times, in the Manchester area and beyond. Just sayin', yer know?
Mary whitehouse
people were around 40 y ago deploring the flood of filth

TTT does it on a daily basis here ( deplore filth you naughty boy!) - like the poor they are always with us: so what?
