I live in the South West where it's usually milder. The outlook for the next week is bleak. Though there will be sun, the temperature will be no higher than 17...even dropping to "highs" of 13! Aaarrgghh...might as well be October.
NY had terrible winters but at least when summer came you knew it was going to be hot. Used to be like that in my youth in this country but not anymore.
I also live in the south west pastafreak. I am wearing a jumper and an anorak to go out. We usually get nice weather this time of year. I am resisting putting the heating on, but I could really do with it
I was born and brought up in the SW (Atlantic coast) I don't care what anyone says, the weather when we were young was never as dire as it is now. Yes, it was in the winter but not in the summer. The Atlantic has warmed up and that causes squalls and terrible weather.
we had a very good summer after Covid hit; people would have been a lot grumpier if they'd been unable to go out for fresh air and sun because of bad weather as well as because of Covid. But by far most of the summers I've had here have had warm but cloudy days, with the sun only appearing first and last thing to boost the sunshine hours statistic.
^ Cloudy - that's the operative word. When I first came to London I couldn't stand the cloudy days. I called it nothing weather. The whole winter was like that but now the summers are as well. Very depressing.
Some might remember that before climate change was fashionable El Nino was the big talking point for our weather.
Where it flowed in a given year determined what we'd get.
Then some bright spark realised that you couldn't tax that.
Ah, I was born and brought up in Lowestoft, the most easterly point. Oh, the lazy winds - they didn't bother to go round, they went straight through you! Straight off the North Sea. Not so bad in the Midlands, a few things in the way but I'm also cold at the moment. I thought it was old age!
