I haven't heard of this concerning Asperger's.I wouldn't read into it too much since it was one doctor. If you are really concerned, you can always look at the latest research online which would involve studies carried out over a number of years. It's one of those conditions, as well as autism, that are continuing to baffle the medics with no clear evidence as yet of what causes it.
my friend at work sue her daughter emma has been digonoised with aspergers, shes 18 now, but she says she allways thought it had to do with her ingections when she was small, but i dont think they know of a definate cause yet
Hi Levis, I work with kids with asperger's and have never heard of this. I'm no expert though! Wish you had asked last night as I was at a training course today about autism and asperger's. I will ask the guys at work tomorrow!
I carried my eldest a fortnight after his due date and he has undiagnosed aspergers (ie he showed all the symptoms, but the education system wouldn't recognise it when he was at school)

The doctors said I gave birth to my youngest a week early, but I know he was on time (because I know when I conceived). He's never shown any traits of having AS.
My daughter is Autistic, she was two weeks overdue, but when she was born, she wasn't blue, but the cord was wrapped round her neck twice, I believe, that both Aspergers and full blown Autism is cause by lack of oxygen, either in the womb, or soon after birth, no proof of it, but thats my belief.
my son is 15 and has AS, emergency C section after being in labour for 36hrs he was blue and whisked away to have airways cleared, no one has ever suggested that this may have been the cause, but it's got me thinking. Would love to talk with someone with a child of a similar age or older for ideas and advice with further education and generaly coping with living with a teenager with AS
