We are told that junk food and ready meals are bad for us and should only be eaten occasionally, so why are M&S and Waitrose ready meals considered to be better?

When an own brand ready meal is recalled very often it is recalled from many different supermarkets including M&S and Waitrose, proving it is no different (or not much different) from, say, Asda or Iceland

We sometimes have a Tesco meal deal, but not very often. Most of them have been good and cheap. we never have deliveries. Besides not wanting them noone would deliver to us, except for alocal pub during the first lockdown. We always have ready meals in the freezer because when we cook casseroles, curries or pasta dishes, we cook enough for two meals and freeze one or sometimes two. We have now started to eat out at least once a week again. Hooray!
I don't think its necessarily snobbishness. Most people know what they like.
When I worked at the drop-in, FreyBentos pies were regularly on the menu. I liked the gravy soaked pastry...same with all the free pasties we would get. But I didn't like the fillings, so on that basis I'd never buy them.
We would have to go a long way for a Marks and Spencer ready meal. Over 20 miles, so we have never had one.
I must be a saint or weird...I never get ready meals or takeaways. When I see something I'd like...pizza maybe...I know it will give me issues.
I'm much the same Pasta! I have to be very cautious.
my friend drove the big HGV s for Marks & Spencer and whilst it always said M&S chicken - he can swear they all came from Moypark LOL

Fray Bentos steak pie is 15% meat, the largest ingredient is water. No idea how they can call it a steak pie. A Pukka steak pie is 29% meat and has pastry top and bottom.

Pat, Ocado delivers M&S, don't know if they deliver in your area. I have a lot of home cooked meals in the freezer, too. I use left over casserole and stew to make pies
Barry I love Fray Bentos but totally agree with you absolutely no meat to call a meat pie. I just love the gravy and a little of the pastry LOL
I remember a doctor on radio many years ago talking about food and peoples' diets in general..."there's no such thing as junk food, just a junk diet".
