My Computer instantly shuts down.

Hi, my computer has taken to instantly freezing (momentarily) and then shutting down in an instant without warning.
To me it seems like a classic overheating symptom. However the side of my PC is off so there is a good airflow reaching the components.
Could it be driver related?
When I my PC comes back I get a box saying Windows has recovered from a serious error with the following details;
"BCCode : 1000008e BCP1 : C0000005 BCP2 : 8056CB93 BCP3 : F1FE51F8
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1 "
How can I decipher this to get to the bottom of why my PC is failing?

Sounds more like a driver problem to me (the message you are getting would seem to indicate that Windows is aware that it is crashing, whereas [at least in my experience] in cases of overheating the motherboard will shut down with informing Windows).
Right-click my computer, choose properties
Click the advanced tab
Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section
Uncheck the "Automatically restart" option
This way you should get some indication of what's causing the probe before the machine restarts.
