Ok, first time setting up an African cichlid tank. Has anyone else set one up and what cichlids are best to start off with?

PH is in the high range 8.0

I know it’s been a few years and still no one has answered this question for you but Yes ph around 8.0 is fine for your African cichlids. Hopefully you still enjoy your hobby keeping the fish.
