I like to keep as fit and healthy as possible. And i like going for walks, if possible once or twice a week, and the countryside near me is good for the body and mind. Do others go walking and how often?.
Walking can be great exercise if you walk briskly with purpose. Less chance of injury and less wear and tear on joints and ligaments so is more sustainable on a daily basis.
It will get the heart pumping, the blood flowing and exercise the large muscles.
I walk between 3 and 7 miles every day.
I used to walk home from work every day, around 3 miles. Since lockdown and working from home I walk the school runs which are 10 minutes each way so 40 mins in total. I have put on over a stone since and can't seem to shift it. I used to do over 10k steps but now lucky if I do 6k these days.
What’s wrong with the knee Sharon?
Smow just not long home, to be honest, I don't know. The doctors say it is wear & tear after misdiagnosis arthritis in first place. It is agony & am taking cocodamol.
Tigger, your walking might be more effective if you were able to do more...20-30 minutes...in one go. And fairly brisk.
*says she who can't walk as briskly as she used to*
I just wish I could walk more than a few hundred steps. We are a walking family. We live with fields all around us and I can't get out there. Every day I feel upset when 0H and dog go out and I have to watch them out there on the fields. It was mfavourite thing to do,together with being active in our large garden. I eat very little now and haven't fortunately put on any weight. But I have lost muscle strength.
I do some exercises Pasta when I'm up to it. But basically because my ligaments haven't ever worked properly my muscles have been doing too much work and most of my joints are now arthritic. I can walk but I'm slow and need a rollator when I go out. And I can't walk on uneven ground. Basically I'm likes bendy doll and very unstable. Things won't get better, but I'll manage.
