We should adopt the Quentin Crisp method - after four years the dust doesn't get any worse, it's just a matter of keeping your nerve.

I hate clutter. I like a clean but lived in house and that’s what I have. I couldn’t stand looking at dust and dirt.

Do those who rarely dust ever clean fridges and ovens? And how often do they clean kitchen cupboards?

I've got years of memories cluttering all surfaces, with books competing with plants for attention. I'm not terribly social though...but I am friendly!
I suspect I'd be comfortable in your home.
That was for Lottie.
its easy naomi, you just learn NOT to look!
Clutter doesn't = dirt(y).
It's funny...I get what I'd call a normal amount of dust in my lounge/bedrooms. But it always seems to accumulate more in the bathroom. Why is that? Is it because I don't have windows in either the loo or bathroom?
Cleaning kitchen cupboards? Very rare, it disturbs the spiders!! Cleaning the Fridge yes, if it needs cleaning. I dont look at dust but dust to me is different to dirt. Our house is very dusty. It's full of beams. And that also means cobwebs. As for the oven, the hob is kept very clean, the inside is rarely cleaned unless there's a spillage. No-one would come into to our home and call is dirty!
To be honest I don't very often notice much in other people's houses. I go to see them not their home. You would be welcome Pasta. We have loads of books on untidy book shelves and elsewhere! Hubby refuses to get rid of any of his!! Or his magazines. Fortunately we have a study which is cluttered, and keeps our living room from becoming the same!!
And you would be welcomed too Naomi. But you would have to bring a duster!!
Best thing that I have read about memory improvement came in the DT a couple of days ago - the Chinese have had a massive study of folk over 65 and discovered that those who indulge in 3 coffees and 3 teas a day reduce the risk of dementia by 40%.....on the tea, they didn't say whether it was based on green tea or a black one like Oolong cha - however, cheers and bring on the Americano or Assam......
I drink loads of black tea every day, but rarely drink coffee. Does it have to be three of both?
I found the dust problem all but disappeared when I started having to use glasses for reading and other close work.

Don't need them most of the time so the world appears dust free.
no idea, a Sinologist coffee expert I am not - though on the tea front, I love Pu-Erh, esp. with dim sum (Oolong cha with infused with chrysanthemum petals).
Dust If You Must
by Rose Milligan

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.
