I ordered some furniture from them on August 1st and was shocked when they said the estimated day of delivery would be approximately 15th November, but I was only replacing and not buying because I had to.
Now they have emailed me to say it could now be 12th December and this again is only an approximate date.
Is this normal for a furniture company?

A friend ordered a sofa (not DFS) & had several delivery dates & deferrals. It took months - it was being shipped from China!

No idea where mine is coming from, but I definitely won't be ordering anything from them in the future.

Yes, it is normal. If the suite isn't being imported it's being built to order in the UK and with that comes delays in delivery of components; backlogs in work and being bumped down the priority list because they've had a bigger and better order with a determined delivery date.
Same problems if it is being imported with the added complication of getting it into the country. These companies often wait until they have a container load or can buy a space in a container at the right price before transporting it.
If it's leather it will be coming from China with a long delivery date we had the same problem but it finally arrived safe and sound
Question Author
Margo, yes it is leather.
That'll be the reason then Barsel. Fingers crossed it will arrive on the 12th December
Question Author
Yes I hope so. I seem to have been waiting ages for it. :-)
don't want to depress you Barsel - my wee niece waited like 6 months - yep - it was on a slow boat from China - but don't know where she ordered from.
