there is a romani young girl who sells the big issue in front of tesco extra where i live, her father sold it before her, he then she would bus in from the city 20 odd miles away, she is not in college or school, but pushing the big issue, i was told it was because the family could claim tax credits and other benefits, housing benefit etc, it saddens me to think this girl is not in any education, but used a benefits erm scrounger for her parents tax payer funded lifestyle.
Gotta be true...
i have encountered three Big Issue sellers in the last week, please don't tell me that it's not being sold here in the capital.
Born and bred in London but like emmie I now find much of it unrecognisable - and not in a good way.
no its not good, we are the dumping ground of the country, London is often cited for its diversity, all i see is pockets of the city given over to so called ethnic minorities, who are in fact in some areas the majority, how on earth did it come to this. I despair of the place i call home, it will only be worse in years to come. I sat next to a man on the bus the other day and he struck up a conversation about mask wearing, that we should all wear one, as it turned out he was an elderly Greek chap who had lived here since 1958, his command of the language was strained, strange considering he had been here so long. Greeks like many other nationalities here, stick with their own, that's going on a good Greek friend words to me some years ago, he wasn't wrong.
Yikes! This thread is loaded with xenophobia and right wing extremism!
its an opinion and one i have voiced before, so nothing else to add really, except this i am not xenophobic have had plenty of friends from Greek to American and can safely say that uncontrolled mass immigration has killed London as a safe city to live in. Good night
Maybe you are not, but I don't agree and mine is also an opinion, good night to you too.
uncontrolled mass immigration has killed London as a safe city to live in.

Not just London, emmie.
As Tony has said, not just London.
Manchester is probably nearly as bad and also Birmingham.
"uncontrolled mass immigration has killed London as a safe city to live in" ...nah, if anything it'd made London safer. London's white chavs and phoney hip hop "gangsters" are the ones weilding knives and causing havoc.
LOL ^^^^^
"If only he knew" eh, Tonyav?
Well ...educate me.
Much safer when the Kray twins and the Richardsons controlled London's East End wasn't it eh? ;-)
-- answer removed --
THe Kray were mobsters and killers, they ruled London's criminal network with an iron fist, anyone at all that got in their way was hurt or worse. I know enough about them to go on but we aren't talking 60's but now. As to now the young black men are killing often other young black men to what aim, to gain respect, to belong in a gang, drugs culture, you read it on the news every day a new victim, sometimes a complete stranger - all that does is ruins lives, get to grips with knife crime and maybe youngsters won't be dying on London's streets.
Google, xenophobia and right wing extremism? That’s one way of trying to silence valid concerns. It won’t work around here though. We’ve seen it all before.
For those not involved in crime London was safer when the Krays were around.
not sure i agree with that Naomi, they were hard core criminals and they didn't just hurt others of the same ilk, but were into some very heavy duty criminal activity, i think they were a blight on London.
Bring back the days of the Krays, only one crime gang and innocent people are safe.
