Sorry not to up on my technical abilities - but what is blu ray or the difference between dvd - thanks for any answers. Do you need a machine for it and does it need to be connected to your tv

my basic knowledge.

BluRay is the HD equivalent to DVD. You need a HD ready TV connected to a BluRay player to watch it.
bluRay players will play DVDs through same player though DVD players wont play BluRay

what enhancements does or advancements have over the dvd - is it colour or what
Bluray is High Definition rather than standard. some of the special effects films that have come out in last few years look great on a full HD tv and Bluray, compared to standard tv and dvd. Not much point in buying old films in bluray format though.

As with DVDs the BluRay discs do have added features on them too
in my opinion, unless you have supersharp eyesight, there is no difference anyway - emporer's new clothes!
...and they contain a 405nm 150mw violet/blue laser diode :-)
