My neighbour is renting out her large spare ensuite bedroom to a woman who has tried working from home but finds it difficult due to lack of space, noise, children and so on.
It seems to be working well - her tenant is allowed access during 8am til 8pm Monday to Friday and must take her rubbish home.

Can you see this catching on? Seems much less bother than taking in a resident lodger

Interesting. How much does she charge? I'm not sure how she would stand, insurance wise, if the person caused damage or had an accident.
In principle it sounds OK. However, when I was working and my employer introduced WFH in 2010 I don't think I would have wanted the extra cost of renting somewhere to work.

Zacs, she has informed her insurance company and they are not bothered.

I don't know how much she charges.
Fair enough.
When I worked in an office IT wasn't as advanced as it is now. Due to poor health, I really thought that working at home would be a great idea. I gave up working in 2004.

Since the beginning of the plague, I have been bringing stuff home from our Oxfam shop to work on. I now realise that I am far too easily distracted to work (paid work) from home.

My brother works in IT and he works from home and prefers that way of working. He is more focused than me.

children go back to school tomorrow tho ... so no, probably not the sign of things tocome
