cad software free trials

does anyone know if i could download a free cad software or even a trial. for anyone who doesn't know what cad its a computer aided design program.

You can download a free trial of TurboCAD from here:

You would really be after one of Autodesk's products, probably AutoCAD LT 2007 if you are just starting out, or Full AutoCAD 2007 if you are more experienced.

I'm not sure if you can get trial versions of the vertical products (Civil3D, Mechanical Desktop, Architectural Desktop etc...)
I don't think you can get free CAD software any more. Intellicad used to be free, but not any more. The only free thing I can think of is Google Sketchup:
