As long as you had no alternative, make sure you do a printout of your daily tacho record (I'm assuming you have a digital tacho) and write on it something like "Unavoidable delay due to accident on M1[or wherever]. Tacho rules exceeded for safety under Article 12" and you should be OK. I have done this before in my truck and had no comebacks.
