the descent- DVD out before film release???

About a year ago i bought a DVD called the Descent. At the time i had never heard of it but i thought it looked good, so i bought it- legaly!!

but recently i have seen adverts on the internet and on TV for the film coming out soon. how can this be if the DVD is already out?

Is there possibly another film of the same name being released? You can pronounce the word two different ways. Could it be a video game? I have it too and it was released as a film in2005

The Descent was released here (in the UK) in July 2005, but has only just been released in August 2006 in the US and Canada, and has yet to be released in Australia, so that's probably the advertising you are seeing now.

The Descent, as released in North America last month, has approximately one minute cut from the end. Sarah escapes the cave and sees Juno, but the film does not cut back to the cave... the ending was trimmed because viewers didn't like its "�berhopeless finale".
