I got a tattoo on the inside of my right ankle a day ago and it is so sore that i can barely walk on my right foot. is this normal??? i have put a&d ointment on it and was wondering if it might be an allergic reaction to it?

Which book is this from?Maybe try Body& Soul instead. It may also be better if you could make the title a bit snappier and use the question details box- if there isn't one you might want to let the AB Ed know as he/she has asked to be informed

Who cares if your question is in the right place or not? It's a serious question, so it deserves a serious answer:

I've never heard of anyone being allergic to the inks used in tattoos, so an allergic reaction is extremely unlikely. However infections from tattoos are far from uncommon. (Even if the equipment used by the tattooist is perfectly sterile - which it might not be - the tattooing process can introduce bacteria living on the dead surface of your skin into the living layers of the skin).

It's probably nothing serious but you almost certainly need a course of antibiotics. See a doctor a.s.a.p.

As absurd as it may seem, our local tattooist recommends using Preparation-H on new tattoos. I could tell him where to shove it.
