Never heard of it myself,got the first word on my electronic dictionary, then found the answer in Chambers, which says, ( Shakespeare, Emperick Qutique, modelled on therapeutic ). Sorry that's the best I can do.

c = caught, k, qu, + anag of quite.

Shakespeare's word (s) for empiricutic meaning empirical ie pragmatic.
