Having a bit of an argument with my husband over this one...do bulldogs drool? A lot of websites I have looked at say they do but hubby has found websites that say its a common misconception and that a lot of them dont drool. Anyone got an opinions or facts? Thanks

I wouldn't be surprised if they did, nothing else seems to work now that the Kennel Club has totally messed up this breed and turned it into walking disaster that cant even be born or give birth and breath without problems and only going to live a short unhappy gasping life. What a sad end for what used to be a magnificent powerful animal. I think people should take a stand and refuse to buy these poor creatures, perhaps then the breeders of these poor dogs may re-think what they are doing.

I understand what you are saying RATTER15, I have read up about bulldogs quite a bit and every website states all their problems. My husband desperately wanted a bulldog but I gathered all the information about their health problems and talked him out of getting one. We have 2 beautiful healthy Cavalier King Charles pups now and hubby absolutely loves them.
SnuggleBum, so glad you got your dogs, I would love to have a English Bulldog if it wasn't for all the health problems and the fact that to buy one I would be lining the pockets of the people that encourage the mutilation of these dogs.
have to say in the breeder's defense.....there are reputable breeders that actively seek out a stud with, for example, a longer nose or smaller head, so as to limit breed defections, as to where you find such a person, I'm not so sure. Word of mouth maybe.

Divegirl, that is good news, but still the very tip of the iceberg. Until the Kennel Club change the breed standards, no one will be able to show or win anything with these new features coming through, and to a person interested in showing their dogs, this is the most important thing to many of them.
Hi glad you got 2 puppies anyway, yes Bulldogs are the freaks of the canine world now unfortunately. Did your Cavaliers come with Heart check certificates by the way?Hope they did, are they from the same litter?
They dont drool, they kind of froth which goes everywhere when they snort and shake their heads!
I am a vet and would actively encourage people NOT to touch this breed of dog with a barge pole.

Although there are a few good breeders who are trying to "back breed" the dog back to how it used to be years ago - the majority still have major problems.

Not just drooling problems but eye, skin , ears, limb and severe breathing problems are just to name but a few. I even have clients who say they would never get another bulldog!
