I have a free standing all electric cooker with an induction hob and a pyrolytic oven. It is getting on a bit now and Bosch no longer make a cooker with those two essential functions and I can't find one made by any other manufacturer.

When the time comes to replace it would it be possible to put a built in oven in the same space with a hob on top? I have never had a built in oven.

Definitely, Barry. It's possibly the most common arrangement in smaller properties. (With larger kitchens, it's usual to include a full-height double oven... and separate hob.)

You will though, need to include a short section of worktop to sit the hob into.
That could be the hard bit (only aesthetically though. The practicalities are easy enough.)
It is not difficult if the removal of the free standing oven leaves a 60cm gap to take an under oven housing for a single cavity oven or a 60cm space for a double cavity "built in" under oven. However a smaller space means rearranging you existing layout when you fit in a run of worktop. It also pays to check whether any adjacent kitchen unit doors are liable to scorch or get damaged by the new oven if it sits further back than your current one.

Thanks both, my cooker is 60 cm wide.
That is a good place to start then Barry. Now the worktop. How many times have I seen this very scenario turn into a complete kitchen refurb? :))
