losing weight without cardio

I have a set of barbells at home, will I lose weight if, say, I use them for half an hour each day? Is there a way of losing weight using them and not through cardio exercise?

I started exercising with gym weights and found I actually put *on* weight, due to gaining a wee bit more muscle - how about something light, like walking?

how much walking would I have to do in a week to actually lose any weight? walking=time. Say 2 hours per day? will that work?
