I have an Acoustic Solutions 'Bluetooth and WiFi speaker with Amazon Alexa'. But it doesn't work. I think the problem may be that the mute switch is permanently on mute. This is a touch-sensitive switch. Is there any quick fix to solve this problem? Or can anyone suggest a means of opening the device witout actually damaging it?

If it’s a touch switch, I’m not sure opening it up will help. Are you sure the volume isn’t turned right down?

Pressing the other switches i.e. volume up and down and mode brings on flashing lights so these switches are clearly functioning in their own way. Pressing the mic mute has no effect which is why I think that this one is the culprit!
It might be worth returning the device to its factory settings. See Section 6 in the manual:

Oh no, that's quite a puzzling issue with your Alexa speaker!

The mute switch being stuck on mute does sound like a likely culprit.  As for opening the device without causing any damage, I'd recommend checking out some tech-savvy guides. Well, after more than two years I am a little surprised to see that folks out there are still trying to help me! To be honest I had forgotten that I had posted the question and now the device is gone, probably opened up and thrown away in pieces. But my thanks to all of you for your answers. Much appreciated!
