I want to go to uni, I have two AS level grades, D in psychology and E in philosophy and ASA awards in swimming teaching assistant and swim teacher. I have been teaching for two years now plus working part time in a pub. But I want to go to uni. I messed up my chances at college and at the private school I went to it was bsically told to us if you dont go to college, you won't go to uni and you won't get a proper job. I'm sure there are ways that I can go to university. I'm not too short on cash for courses however I'm not tempted with open university. Any websites that can help or phone number, or even specfic courses will be hugely apprieciated. I'm 21 in september.

Hi go on ucas.com and you can see all the courses and their requirements. You can also see when the open days are if you click on the university links. If you put your application in before january cut off you could be looking forward to enrolling this time next september. Good luck.x
I think your to young to be a mature student im sure it is 25 but I may be wrong there is a girl on my course who is 23 she didn't have any qualifications and did an access course at her local college and they accepted this so maybe you could do something like that and apply for next September.

You don't have A-levels but your AS levels may give you enough points to be accepted onto a foundation degree, usually 2 years and they allow you to either go into the final year of a degree or leave with a foundation degree qualification. Not sure if thats the same for all courses and all universities but its what a friend of mine did who didn't get the a-levels they hoped for. You would have to look into it as I am not 100% certain.

Another option if you are hoping to go this September is to go on the ucas website you maybe able to get on a course by going through the clearing process if they have any places left on what you are interested in, think you will have to register with ucas though im not 100% certain but I think you have to go through them. I would do it soon though.

Good Luck

Clare
Anyone 21 or above at the beginning of an academic year is counted as a mature student, and less stringent admissions requrements can appply. Otherwise I concur with clairebear above: ask about foundation degrees or access courses.

Many thank yous. I'm now in the process of completing my ucas application. I've another question to ask.... where can I get someone to look at my personal statement to see whether it's appropriate?
