I have some friends i met about 14 years ago. At the time, they didnt have a landline and only used their mobiles, and i remember thinkig how weird that was. Nowadays, i think i am the only person i know who still does have a landline (with a phone plugged in that still gets used occasionally)

Yes and Yes.

In constant use and is far more convenient to me than a mobile phone.
No landline, No Phone, not for 8 or 9 years.
I remember that most calls were scams and sales calls, and that it was very expensive. Started doing Skype calling over wifi a few years before I got rid of the landline. Every call from home is over wifi now. My mobile is mainly for incoming calls.
Cable landline. No mobile. Trouble is when power is off So is the phone.
Virtually everyone I know is on either FaceTime, WhatsApp or Skype, so all calls are free, often with video.
I had a landline right up until a few weeks ago. I don't know if I'll bother with one for my new house.
I do like getting no scan or cold calls with a mobile.
Like Zebo, I have to walk round the garden to maintain a reasonable signal on my mobile. Tried various providers and although the current one is the most reliable, its not brilliant here in rural Norfolk.

The landline is our lifeline.
I have a landline and use it nearly all the time, with all my calls free (including to mobiles). My mobile is a cheap non-smart one on PAYG, only used for the occasional text and the occasional call when I am out. This suits me fine.
Yes use it for the "free" weekend calls as part of my package and need a landline for the broadband
alavahalf I think it's more than a bit judgemental and condescending to suggest most of the people on here that use a landline because they have poor signal have never heard of or use WhatsApp. I bet many do, I do myself a lot but even with average 37 Mb b/band speed many of my whatsapp calls drop out as I move from room to room in the house. In fact I was making one yesterday and had to give up as it broke up and tried to reconnect about 5 times. It happens a lot.
My mum won't phone mobiles, I have to have a landline mostly for her benefit. I have a package that means calls to other landlines are free up to 59 mins so useful for chatting to friends. I only have a dumb phone mobile which mostly languishes in the bottom of my handbag.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who just has a PAYG dumb phone for emergencies!
i have a landline, and won't be getting rid anyday soon
i have a smart mobile, but honestly don't use it much, though it died on me earlier, got it going again and though you know i need it.
My mate sometimes uses whatsapp and family had a whatsapp chat line going for when mum was ill
