I think they are giving Slade and Roy Wood and Wizard a break this year as all I have heard is Mariah and Shakin Stevens. Can't beat the old ones.

Slade and Wizzard are in the current chart too, as you can see
It's the same every Christmas. The singles chart is virtually meaningless nowadays I'm sad to say.

To be truthful, I absolutely loathe that Mariah Carey song.
It's no better in the States. Mariah has just got to number one there too. Just the same as she did last Christmas.
I see that but I meant I haven't heard them played much whereas the other 2 are on many things from TV shows and adverts to being played in every shop I have been into.
i don;t listen to be honest, i don;t like much christmas music, except carols.
I remember Noddy Holder saying years ago that his song has paid for his christmas every year since it was released with the royalties he gets from it.
To be honest Shedman, It tends to be the same three or four songs that get the bulk of the airplay: Mariah, Wham, The Pogues and Chris Rea. I'd be more than happy to hear 2000 Miles or Stop The Cavalry more often instead.
Oh, you can probably add Shakey to that list.
I have always liked Shaky the Welsh Elvis too. Saw him a while ago on the TV and he is looking all of his 72 years these days.
our shops don't seem to play any Christmas music.
No one seems to make any new Christmas songs, so they have to dust off the old ones.
the only i really like is White Christmas, and thats about it

Liam Gallagher’s Xmas single is a miserable dirge sung out of tune, yet his fans seem to like it. Jamie Cullum’s version of In The Bleak Midwinter is also...bleak. Such recent contributions make the success of the cheery old hits understandable
for all the christmas hits in this week's chart, i note there's no sign of Gary Glitter's festive offering again this year.........
This is the best, Happy Christmas.

I like The Beach Boys Little Saint Nick.........
