Blot as much out as you can then use a small brush and some cold water with vax shampoo or vanish liquid and clean around the area thoroughly. Then, blot out the excess water and you should be OK. I have only tried this with dog pee mind....
Hot water and Biological washing powder. this breaks down the smell as well as washing it out and the animal should then not be tempted to use this area again.
I assume this was animal urine and not human?
The most important thing is to use something chemical to break down the ammonia in the urine - otherwise the animal will keep being attracted to the same area to pee.
I had the same problem with my cats - but be careful, as I used "1001 spray" and it bleached the carpet!
