Am not sure what your interest is judge in my hygiene but lets play a long. A did say risk is low. But its there and world health organisation and docters say we should avoid touching other door hangles. Or at least a wipe my hand with gel after touching them. We after do this at work. Yet you keep challanging me on it but its my choice and its good hygiene. But you keep making fun a me if you want.
Handles are probably amongst the worst surfaces for germs .
With out doubt this virus has spread around mainly by our hands, like any other virus or bacterial infection. Its almost impossible to count how many different things your hands touch on a daily basis, and I would say impossible to clean away thousands and thousands of droplets of the virus. Go into a pub, how do you know the glass you are drinking from is perfectly clean, plates, knifes, forks, even the table you're eating from or the seat you're sitting on, you don't. The tons of packaged products we import has all been handled many times over. The list is endless of things that can be contaminated.
Thanks Bobbin. I'm not making fun. I'm genuinely interested in people's assessment of the risks they believe they face. I'll leave it there.

I don't know that's true but let's assume it is. Is it therefore really a good idea to compel people to wear a piece of warm, damp cloth round their nose and mouth which, with the best will in the world, they cannot help but touch and fiddle with using their heavily contaminated hands?

//The list is endless of things that can be contaminated.//

Of course it is. The alternative to mitigate that risk is either not to touch anything (clearly impractical) or, if you have to, avoid touching your face before you have a chance to sanitize your hands. You cannot help but run risks when living your life. You can do your best to minimise them, but you cannot eliminate them. You can reduce them considerably by not leading a normal life, but it depends whether you want to remain alive simply to remain alive or whether you want to do so in order to live a reasonably enjoyable life. The choice is (or should be) yours.
23.14 NJ,( I don't know that's true) I think you may be being a little unrealistic with that statement.

(Clearly impractical) I'm not saying it is practical to go around not touching anything, just pointing out that extra hand washing is vital with such a new virus that can get out of control very quickly. Regarding the face mask, I see it that you still have a choice, its impossible to police, or to prove that you're reason for not wearing one is valid or not. ( at the moment)
