The clues were a little too simple but the end game added a bit of a challenge.

Thanks, Karla.

Long time since I finished on a Friday! Fun solve
A very tiny bit of a challenge! Thanks, but a little more next time, please
On the easy side, yes, but as always that's fine by me as long as the puzzle is fun and the theme is elegantly implemented. Both were the case here, and I congratulate Karla on a promising Listener debut.
Agreed. We don't start till the paper comes on Saturday and finished over breakfast. A pleasant change for us! Thanks for a relatively easy start to the day but unfortunately that means more odd jobs to be tackled.
I agree with Hagen.

Thanks, Karla.
Hmmm - much too easy.

I agree that there need to be a few 'entry-level' puzzles to encourage new solvers - otherwise The Listener will become ever more elitist and old-farty - but this took me less than 45 minutes including a break for a sip of Guinness and some cheese and crackers.

I'd also argue that the rubric was not quite right - fortunately the desired result was fairly obvious.

None of this is a criticism of the (new) setter - it's fundamentally a nice puzzle - the checkers and testers could easily have requested a bit of toughening in the clues and should have re-worded part of the rubric.

Thanks, Karla - hope to see you again soon
I enjoyed the puzzle - thanks Karla - agreed it wasn't the hardest puzzle of the year but variety is good.
I enjoyed the Nina in the clues (trying to avoid giving away a spoiler for anyone who hasn't done the puzzle yet)
