Lazarus (not the famous one)
From where do you get your info, sgeandhu? There was a question about this earlier and nobody could come up with a reason for naming this beggar Lazarus. Do you have one?
Lazarus was the man from Bethany raised from the dead by Jesus. I think the beggar with leprosy was Simon.
this seems like a combination of 2 NT events

1)the actual curing of a man with leprosy(though not named as i recall)
2) the parable in Luke (16:12) of the leprous beggar named Lazarus (but not the brother of Mary/Martha from Bethany)

if a crossword clue, then the 2 may be "superimposed"??
We had quite a discussion earlier about this one , whilst views vary it could well be Lazarus, not the one raised from the dead but the one from the parable The rich man.... L was the beggar at the gates of the rich mans house.... even a dog came to lick his wounds .... but I can't confirm that Jesus actually cured him of leprosy before he died!
There are many hospitals named after St Lazarus and they all mention treating skin disorders and leprosy. xx
Hi again ... Simon the Leper was healed by jesus but he had his own house so would he be a beggar ??

In the Roman Catholic tradition of St Lazarus who was raised from the dead is that he was a leper. He also had his own house so wouldn't be a beggar ??
xx
Interested in where you get the information that Simon the leper was cured by Jesus, earthakitten. Can you give a reference in the Bible for that as I cannot find one? Thanks.
Evening goldenfield ... All the sites I've looked at say Simon the leper who was or is assumed to have been healed by Jesus. (Mark 1 :40). It woudn't be the answer anyway ???? as he was not a beggar ! Apparently, little is known about him but he could have been father of Martha, Mary and Lazarus which is how Lazarus contracted leprosy. I'm not a Bible reader so I can only go on what I read on the sites.Point taken though, it doesn't seem that Jesus healing him is actually mentioned, just assumed. xx
Yes - fair enough earthakitten - just interested in seeing if you knew more than I have been able to find out.

This is at least the second time to my knowledge that a Bible question has been raised on this board when the Bible does not give a specific name to be able to answer the question with. Lazarus or Simon could be the answer the quiz-setter is looking for but hobnail might just as well put his own name as the answer as it is just as likely as any ha ha.
