Hi jj - no, if they're not being used, they're taking up no resources.
Won't slow it down but if you have filled them all with data it will reduce capacity.
Danny - not sure what you mean by "filling a browser with data"?
Task bars, favourites etc

ok - thanks for the answers - when I eventually find the "best" one - I will uninstall the others.
Jenny, better if you keep two in case one starts playing up.
yes, I keep IE (or whatever it's called now) and Chrome in reserve in case Firefox plays up. I don't have bookmarks on them, they're just for emergency use.
I've installed lots of browsers but only keep three of them on my taskbar. I have desktop icons for the rest as I don't like the taskbar being too cluttered.

I don't know what capacity Danny is referring to
It is a bit pointless keeping Internet Explorer if you also have Edge. IE is legacy software and Edge does everything it does, only much better and faster, and is being constantly updated and optimised.
A browser and its accompanying files and data is unlikely to make much of a dent on your devices storage (if that is what is meant by capacity).
I hate using IE on my dad’s computer, but I keep it on it in case I have to redownload our preferred Chrome which I often have to do.
Which browsers do you use and which don't you use?

I have the new version of Edge and use that all the time now. I also have Chrome and Firefox which I hardly use so may remove.
yes, on checking, it's Edge I've now got, it just seems to have the old IE logo.
A browse could have any number of shortcuts in its bookmark manager. However, if it's not actually running, it will consume no resources (memory, processor cycles, screen writes etc) at all. Some applications are set to run when the operating system starts up, but browsers generally aren't.

This is why having one anti-virus package is good but more than one is bad.
