I have just purchased a cheap plywood set of drawers covered in a brown laminate and I was wondering what options I had in terms of covering it.

Someone told me that paint won't 'take' to it - si this so? What about wallpaper?

Thanks for your time.

Have you thought about the special paint for freshening up kitchen units? This would cover the laminate OK.
We used white Fablon to cover two horrible dark brown low wooden filing cabinets and they've now been turned into very respectable looking bedside cabinets without any problems. B & Q is probably one of the best places to check out these kinds of covering materials. I'm pretty sure paint wouldn't "take" on top of laminate and wallpaper will almost certain soon get scratched and torn. Fablon is pretty tough and it comes in a wide range of finishes, both plain and textured. You usually by it by the roll.
They make a special paint now for covering anything with a laminate finish. ESP is one - (easy surface preparation)
