How do I accept paymenys?

Hello. Just wondering, I have PayPal already but I want to accept other payments such as mailcheck, wire transfer, creditcard and debit card. How would I go about this, because I haven't got a clue. Oh, and please, go gentle on me, I'm not much of a tech head but I'm willing to learn. Thank you very much for any help you can give me. (Also. Yes, this would all be computer based)!

If you want to accept credit cards, you require the services of a 'merchant' (who takes a percentage of each sale).
The traditional route to find a merchant is to ask your bank manager to put you in touch with a company which they have a commercial relationship with. (This might be a subsidiary of one of the credit card firms and/or of the bank).
There are plenty of other companies offering similar services. To work out which is best for you, you need to examine both their set-up fees and the commission charges they'll make.
To find hundreds of companies who want your business, simply Google 'credit card merchant' or, possibly better, 'credit card merchant UK'.

I wouldn't go for wire transfer or mailcheck or western union: all too dodgy now.
For CCs you really need to be a business, it's going to be a lot hard to get if you're not. There are lots of services available, just Google. EG Worldpay (Barclay's, I think)
If you're not a business, you might consider Nochex, a part of Natwest, which provides low volume CC services for individuals.
