And follow places like Spain and Italy,,where I was heading on holiday ( Lanzarote) the Guardia are patrolling the streets in police cars with loud speakers telling everyone they must return to their homes immediately, those not adhering to this are being slapped with an on the spot €300 fine

they are also putting other people's lives at risk, not just by passing the virus on but by potentially putting extra pressure on ITU beds and ventilators...there are people whose need for those beds will be unavoidable, the rest of us should be doing our best to leave medical resources for thse who really need them.

hi Zebo, as yet we are not in total lockdown although in a full week I have been out for the grand total of 3 hours, if and when, and I think it will be when, I will comply with whatever we are told to do

Listened to a doctor the other day on the radio who said that no matter how fit and active someone is at 70, there immune system is still 70 years old, so they are still at a higher risk.

I need your definition of a "total lockdown".

Italys supermarkets and banks still open.
Bobbi. The over 70s are already in self isolation or should be. A Lock down shouldn't make much difference to us!

Hi APC, but we septuagenarians are ‘allowed’ to walk our dogs etc aren’t we ? As long as your so many metres from another person
Yes of course.and we still will be if there is a lockdown.
If you go into isolation with your friends what will Mr Bobbisox do ;o)?
they're even arresting reptiles, Bobbi

^^ He will be over the moon I would think. :0)
The over 70's shouldn't be in self isolation, as far as I'm aware this silly rule hasn't come into place yet. I know two lovely ladies, both in their early 70's who are fuming with this. One has family living away and the other has no family at all. Like they say, who will get their shopping in and walk the dog all in an hour? Both will go stir crazy if they have too stay in for months and months. It's just not possible for everyone to do it. I'm totally on their side. Not everyone is retired by 70 either. You're lucky if you can self isolate and have family to help, but this sadly, does not apply to everyone.
there are different exceptions to lockdowns in different places. Belgians can still go out and buy frites ...

The elderly may be vulnerable to the virus ..however the young snowflakes will be more vulnerable to the post virus financial fallout.
Sorry, yes it was advised on Sunday that over 70s should self isolate with expectation that it would officially be announced within weeks. Most people I know in our age group have done so already. I agree it will be difficult or even impossible for many. Our pharmacist employs older drivers to deliver prescriptions and they are now self isolating
