Does that tell them you are positive? If it’s high, or do they do a blood test as well, just curious and if so can a blood test establish you have the virus? Or is it just done by taking your temperature, I’m thinking for example, airports and ferries which may be forced to bring it in

The NHS test is done via swabs - there's a breath test being trialled but not in the UK.

They used a thermal imaging camera at a recent airport I passed through but having a temperature doesn't mean you are positive it just means you have some kind of infection, even a cold. It would need a proper swab test to confirm.

The swabbing does not give an instant result. With SARS the result was available in 6 to 8 hours

You go to your GP for 4 swabs - 2 in the nose and 2 in the throat. Then you self isolate at home until the results come through (usually 2 to 5 days)

There does not appear to be anything happening at the airport. We flew back in Friday evening and walked straight through as usual.

I saw it at a foreign airport ubasses but nothing at all at Gatwick (that I noticed).
