Is there anything that’s sold only seasonally that you wish you could buy all year round? It occurred to me today that Hot Cross buns would be on my list - and then thoughts of big tubs of Quality Street that only seem to be on sale at Christmas, and summer clothes for those winter trips to hot climes, entered the fray. Just pondering.

Buen chico - I agree with you that Emmets sells the Rolls Royce of bacon - I've known that shop since I was a small child when it was the village store that sold everything from brooms to bacon and still go there on my annual pilgrimage to Suffolk. However, you don't need to drive quite that far as Edis the butcher in St John St, Bury St Edmunds also sells Suffolk "black back" bacon (and other kinds of course) but doesn't charge Peasenhall prices! Their sausages are great too.
Our local claim to fame is a butchers called, "Muffs Of Bromborough," award winning sausages included.
I find most things are available all year if you know where to shop, my one thing would be Rite of Spring the green beer it's so fresh and moreish. A really boozy fruit cake buy a fruit round from a home baking shop ( they are pre made wedding cake tiers) and feed it with the booze of your choice.
Ambrosia used to make a seasonal christmas sauce, simply called "Desert Sauce". It was lovely with mince pies/christmas pud. I wanted it to be available all year but it never was. They don't make it any more. I phoned them to ask why, and the girl on the phone said she didn't know. They just don't! Good innit?!!
Apologies naomi....... Chris, we are regular visitors to Walpole. Emmetts will be on the ‘to do’ list next time we go!
Those lovely mince pies with icing on the top.
I can only get loose sausage meat at Christmas here. Have asked the local butcher to keep some for me when he does his own sausages, but he keeps forgetting.
So Have to just get fat sausages and skin them if I want to make stuffing.
Can't understand it.
For us it’s goose eggs. They seem to come in our local farm shop around the middle of Feb and stop around autumn.

Husband was in the shop last month and said to the woman ‘I’ll be in to see you on Valentine’s Day.’ ‘Oh, why’s that?’ she said.
‘To get my goose eggs, of course.’
I like hot cross buns but I used to buy tea cakes when they were not available.
//Nice dry smoked back bacon.//

Mamya, Lots of butchers here, Norfolk, sell lovely bacon. Have you tried the Barrons on Chorley Old Road, they used top have some lovely stuff!
I make an amazing parkin all year round, so wonderfully sticky.
