I have a Bottlebrush plant in a container in my garden in it's first year. Does anybody know if I need to cut it back or prune it ? If so, when. The Latin name is CALLISTEMON RIGIDUS. Thanks in advance.

I prefer to cut them back just below where they've flowered, otherwise you get a long bit of bare stem where the flowers were. Do this just after it flowers.

Many thanks "andyjevs" - will go and do that right now !

I have bottlebrush that is a few years old without being trimmed and it has grown quite large - 1.5m spread.

Any idea how do I cut this back without losing the plant

Thanks
