Is it true that the newly formed United States Government seriously considered using Hebrew as their official language after winning independance from the UK?

It was English, Jim, but not as we know it. ;-)
The United States currently has no official language, it is largely monolingual with English being the de facto national language. English is spoken by about 82% of the population as a native language, Hebrew is spoken by less than 0.1%.
