I'm in the process of becoming a volunteer dog socialiser at the Battersea Dogs and Cats home (going for an induction day on saturday). I'm really looking forward to it and just wondered if anyone on here does this kind of thing and if so what your experiences have been?
Thanks. :-)

I have never done it myself, but it sounds like a good thing to get into.
What's a dog socialiser?

violetblue - I don't have all the info yet but basically its spending time with individual dogs in their kennels, possibly playing with them, grooming them or just sitting quietly with them. A kennel atmosphere is really stressful for them and they inevitably don't get much human contact so its a chance for them to have some human contact and get used to it if they are not already. With some nervous ones its a chance to try to increase their confidence as well and hopefully make them easier to rehome.
Don't know anything about it, but I just wanted to say that's a lovely thing you're embarking on- good on you!

Hope it goes well for ya :-)
Although I'm scared of dogs, it sounds like a really worthwhile thing to do as it must be horrible for them. Hopefully they will then be less stressed and likely to be a handful when they have new owners. Good on you and good luck!
I think that's a lovely thing to be able to do. I'd be too frightened that I'd get too emotionally involved - great when they find a family, not so if they have to be put down. :'-(
