10 years ago I lost significant weight about 50 lbs that made me a really healthy size. It was one of those culmination of many things such as entering my 20s and leaving puberty behind, not eating the processed junk my mother would shove down my mouth eg cheesecake for dinner - yes seriously!

I never received any compliments or acknowledgment from my family or friends about the weight loss. I dont think it is unreasonable for me to expect so because it was a major transformation. What I did and continue to receive is a lot of 'oh look youre putting all the weight back on again' or 'you're going to look just like you did when you were young' 'you're fat now' ... you catch my drift - almost like they are wishing I would put the weight back on

My own mind has been so confused about what I look like and if I am fat or slim. I have recently bought a weighing scale to give me some sort of objective feedback.

For anyone who has lost significant weight how have you adjusted to your new image and the jealousy/ envy of haters? I know ignoring is obviously the key but it is not that easy because family and friends in particular have the most disgusting ability to get under your skin because they know your insecurities like posting pictures of me when I was fat on Facebook or constantly hounding me about my weight or telling me I am getting fat again or insinuating that I have an eating disorder or I am doing something untoward to have lost and maintained the weight loss instead of realising I just eat healthy. It really brings me down because I feel like I am being attacked all the time and people are just waiting for me to pile the wight back on so they can say 'you see, you're not as special as you thought you were. you are fat and you will always be fat'.

Congratulations on your successful weight loss and also for maintaining it in the face of all that negativity.

You've obviously realised eating properly is the key to this success and if you can maintain this you won't go backwards.

Some people just hate to see others succeed where they can't so out comes all the jealousy and envy and general bitchyness ( and I'll bet it's mostly women) to try to dent your confidence.

Ignore them all !! You know how good you look and feel and just keep on doing what you're doing, you can't go wrong!! :))
Well done. Ignore them, they are jealous of your achievement.
Maybe they do feel low esteem for not being able to achieve what you managed. In such times latching on to small slips may comfort them that it was as well they didn't try because maintenance is not easy. Best to just laugh it off.

My weight loss was not overly significant so didn't really need adjusting to, but I am also testament that it can creep back. Especially after major life incidents when being good with the food seems less important.

Live your own life and reap the benefits. Try as much as possible to be unconcerned about what others think of you.
