no idea what's on in the cinema at mo, but I'm a girl (not surprisingly) and I love 'The Wedding Singer' it's funny and bit soppy and has happy ending and I love the 80's music!
I like Me, Myself and Irene, The Big Lebowski or Something About Mary, they always make me laugh, but it does depend entirely on your female friends sense of humour.
Tricky subject, as women seem to have a different sense of humour to men. It's very easy to get it totally wrong!

I would second what the previous posters say, go for one of the undemanding, romantic comedies (which aren't really very funny). It MUST have a happy ending.
How about meet the parents, or the sequel meet the fockers.

Or maybe just another old classic like Dumb and Dumber.

It all depends really on what sense of humour she has and how old she is.

Some of the Lee Evans stuff is pretty good too, but don't try and do your own comedy routine afterwards as it will fall on deaf ears.

I've never failed with The American President, Aaron Sorkin's first go at portraying The West Wing. Funny, intelligent, romantic, strong female lead and a happy ending.

yeah i'd go with an older film like overboard, or like the previous poster said, trading places, or brwesters millions. they are v funny fand fairly safe bet. happy gilmore is my personal fave though it has me on the floor every time!
You could possibly try some French comedies (if she's willing to read subtitles). Les Diner des cons (The dinner of idiots) is good. About rich businessmen who invite idiots to dinner. One particular idiot features heavily in this film Francois Pignon, who works in the tax office. There is also the closet, about a man about to be fired from the condom factory he works at. To avoid this, he pretends to be gay and ends up as an icon of the company.
of the older films I love Hear No Evil, See No Evil, classic.
You could try Soul Plane - absolutely hilarious!!!
