Photos Wont Save To Sd Card Even After Formatting - Samsung J3

I've put a different SD card in my phone - a 2017 samsung J3.

Its 64gb and the max my phone takes is 256gb.

The phone sees the card, lets me access it, displays it - but i can't save photos to it from my camera.
When i change the setting from internal storage to SD and it accepts that change, but then when i actually take a photo, i get an error message saying it cant save to SD and its saving to internal instead.

I've formatted it about 3 times within the phone, and once on a quick format on my laptop and then a thorough format on my laptop that took hours to do

and its still doing the same thing!

any ideas whats wrong?

Have you tried a) the card elsewhere to see if the card is faulty, b) a third card in the camera to see if the block is with it ?

Apart from that, sorry, no idea.

Well its not the card - ive inserted another identical card, and its doing the same thing :(

and the other card works in my laptop so its definitely the phone
ill have a read through that thread
