I'd already decided 3 down had to be 'tidy', as this means 'orderly', but can anyone please explain how 'quite large' fits in? It's probably obvious but not to me!

I think the "tidy/quite large" connection comes from the saying "a tidy sum" meaning a quite large sum of money.
That's the only link I can think of.
Thanks eaglchris, I'd never have thought of that, as that seems to be the only example of using 'tidy' with that meaning!
