...or any locals
What can be done in a very soggy Ipswich today?
We have theatre tickets for 7.30 (come up from Kent, staying near quay)
Apart from the Ed Sheeran exhibition.....his face is everywhere!!
Thank you

OH, I'm SO sorry I didn't see this in time to be of any help :(

Ipswich is actually quite a pleasant town to wander around but probably not in the pouring rain. If you're ever this way again, make sure that you visit Christchurch Mansion though:

I could also have pointed you towards some very good bars. I was in two of them myself earlier tonight!

Sorry again but expecting me to see a post at 0923 (when I rarely go to bed before 0300 and often don't get there until after 0600) is always going to be a bit of a long shot!
Don't believe him. It's the worst dump in Britain. The best thing to see is the bridge that takes you out of there. (which I built for you, as it happens)
>>> It's the worst dump in Britain

I might have described it that way when I was a child there but it's actually becoming quite a popular tourist destination these days, with the waterfront area being particularly attractive. Some people must like it; I struggled to find a parking place on a Sunday evening!
Must have changed a lot since the early eighties.
Just checked, even the bridge I built looks rubbish, lol.
Oops, Jake, I've just realised that the Ed Sheeran exhibition is actually in Christchurch Mansion, which I recommended to you. I won't bother telling you about what else there is in Ipswich though, as it's all rather pointless now.

(Most locals get fed up of hearing about Ed Sheeran; the local rag seems to carry a story about him every day. For example their website currently carries an item about him donating his flip-flops to charity!)
Spicerack:
You certainly wouldn't recognise the waterfront these days!

Thank you Chris.
We did actually spend a while with Ed Sheeran and then walked around the mansion and had cuppa and cake in the tearoom.
Then drove to Westerfield Station for a look and then to the Control Tower near Martlesham.
I would agree that some of the town is a dump but having walked extensively on Saturday, there are some very pleasant areas.
Drank in the Salutation and Swan and Hedgehog, not really proper pubs.
Thank you for your reply and to Spicerack.
