So go on then - which is your favourite site of the teacake - do you prefer th bottoms or the tops? (We call it teacake up here in Yorkshire but I've heard it called a bap, a muffin and a breadcake.)

should have said really - I prefer the bottoms - I also prefer the bottoms on scones but like the tops on buns. Doll xx
Oooooh, definitely the top.x
i prefer the tops but nice and burnt with lots of jam yummy
The top, with lashings of butter and home made strawberry jam.....could fancy one right now!
If I'm sharing, I always let mr owzat have the top, cos he likes it. He always likes jam on his teacake, but I just prefer thick butter! Mind you, having said that, Golden syrup is yummy !!
The bottom, ALWAYS!
...bottoms for me too....
do you mean a sweet one? with raisins? we call them current teacakes in my part of lancashire. If they are plain, without fruit then we call them barmcakes.
Either way, i'm a bottomer, and i'm very lucky as i'm married to a topper!
Bottoms, always, because if the top gets burnt, the taste of burnt currants/raisins is horrid and bitter. Love your question - this is the important stuff of life!
Bottoms definately!
Cut in half to get top and bottom, toast, butter both thickly and put back together. Cut into quarters and eat with butter running down chin. You can't take me anywhere (twice)
