Lunatic Pooches!

Hey all, first time posting a q on here!
Anyway, to the point, me & my partner have 2 dogs, 2 year old Samoyed & a 1 yr old Dobermann, problem is they are mental! We have tried training them, but if we seperate them, they sulk n dont want to do anything, if they are together, then we dont stand a chance!!

And we are now stuck, its got to the point were we cant have them in the house as they demolish the place, and being the size they are, thats not much fun! (well it seems to be for them!)

Ummm so yea, just well, help please! :-(

Just pass the dogs on to someone who has some idea of what these dogs are like, then look into specific breeds before settling on one. you need to consider the size of the dog, the amount of exercise it will require, the amount of food it eat, how reseptive it will be to training, especially if you are inexperienced at dog training. Or else you can keep your current dogs and knuckle down and train your dogs at training classes and your dogs need to know you are in charge and not them. The Dobi is very receptive to training in the right hands but the Samoyed can be a nightmare, be carefull with it, they like think they are boss and may object to you telling it otherwise. good luck

Have you tried using a crate,for short periods of time while you are out,longest time ours was in it was 2 hours,he hated it but some dogs can make it their own personal retreat.
One of our boxers used to "move" things in the house,we got a crate and used it for a while, then we gradually let him out for periods of time with his "sister",getting longer every time,now we can leave him with no damage :o)

Easiest way to get dogs to settle down is to increase their exercise. Tire them out (!) and they will come home and sleep. Problem is, more exercise they get, the fitter they will get, and the more exercise they will need......

you should not leave them together alone,either cage them next to each other or lock them in different rooms.you need to get them used to being apart so lock leave one at home with your partner and take one for a walk,then switch dogs.never fuss them if they pine for each other only fuss when they are quiet so you are rewarding good behaviour.you should really get them enrolled in a training course,as any good dog trainer will help you out.i have a 6 mnth old miniature pinscher (which acts like a mini doberman!)he was awful hard work but im slowly getting there after some very consistent weekly training lessons!! i just passed my 1st certificate and am now up a stage.its fairly cheap and well worth it to have a well behaved animal.good luck xx
