I have just acquired a Philips Digital Photo Display (DPD) and a wonderful piece of equipment it is too!
However, I have a slight problem: while I can connect it to, and copy pictures from, my Olympus digital camera I can't copy pictures from my PC. This appears to be because my PC is 6 years old and is running Win98 and the DPD only works with Win2000 or XP.
I can see a possible way round the problem: the DPD will also copy photos direct from some types of memory cards (Compact Flash, Memory Stick, SD, MMC) - but not from the XD card which my camera uses. The DPD instructions say that it is possible to copy photos from a PC into the root directory of a (compatible) memory card and then copy photos from the memory card into the DPD.
I have no plans to change my computer which, as I say, runs Win98 and has a couple of USB 1ports.
My questions are: 1) Can I get a memory card reader that will work from my USB 1 connection? 2) If so, what memory card would you recommend as being most suitable for the operation described above?
