pull both draw strings (making hood or what not quite tight, then expand hood or what ever in a position to allow both drawstrings to retract at the same rate until you can't expand hood or what not anymore. Happens to me all the time.

thanks spathy - will give that a go but the coat is a really big coat and I'll have to find a smaller pin to go into the tiny hole per se
any way to thread it JJ, you don't even need a pin, it just makes it easier if the metal claps has came off of the end of the drawstring.

would you believe it I destroyed the cord - couldn't get it through and went down and bought another one - 40p. from a wee craftshop. Haven't tried it yet.

the lady in the shop told me to thread it around a hair clip and try and push that through. I'll try tomorrow. Today has been a stressful day with getting the final teeth.
I'm sure you'll manage, at first i found it hard but there is a nack to it.. my friends use to pull the cord all the way out for a laugh so you get use to putting it back in.. It's much easier then there is a metal clip at the end, something solid to shimmy up.
The metal bit is called an aglet. The aglet makes it a lot easier to pull through the 'tunnel'.
