Simon & Garfunkel - The Sounds Of Silence ?
I think it's a p*ss take of the original song.  I think the actual line is 'Hello darkness my old friend', but I'm not a huge fan, can't say for sure.
Yep thats the original line... Found the lyrics for the Simpsons parody..

Hello Grandpa my old friend,
your busy day is at an end.
You exploits have been sad and boring.
Your life's a tale not worth recording,
So many ways, for pennys to fall from heaven to the ground.

And no one can stand,
the sound of Grandpa.
And no one can stand, the sound,
Of Grandpa.

Hello Grandpa my old friend,
Your busy day is at an end.
Your life is dry as torture,
nobody cares just what they bought ya,
So many ways, for tears to run down the ages of our lives.

'Cos no one can stand, the sound,
Of Grandpa.
And no one can stand, the sound,
Of Grandpa.
It was in the episode of the simpsons where 'grandpa' tried to stop the wedding of 'mrs bouvier' (sp?) a la 'the graduate'.
Morrisonker, you are right, the actual line is 'Hello darkness my old friend, I'v come to talk with you again.'
The Simon and Garfunkel version is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!

This is a reply to sparks, who in the third answer posted the lyrics of the Sound of Silence parody. The real lyric of the Simpsons' parody  (The Sound of Grampa) is:

Hello Grampa, my old friend,
Your busy day is at an end.
Your exploits have been sad and boring,
They tell a tale that's worth ignoring.
When you're alone, the words of your story
Will echo down the rest-home hall,
'Cause no one at all,
Can stand the sound
Of Grampa.

I advice you: click on the link, select all , copy and paste in word (there are 42 pages in Corier New type at a size of 10; if you put the size of the letter at 12, that makes more than 60 pages). Then search for "The Sound of Grampa", that's on the page 15 of 42.

Well, the real version is

Simon & Garfunkel - Sound of silence, but I find it kinda boring.

There is a version that goes "Hello grandpa my old friend, your pointless day is at an end" which is funny, but sad at the end.

Jay The Weird - Hello Grandpa

But I can't find that one anywhere. I found the lyrics on multiple sites, but can't find the song. On any program. Not the full version.
buddy...the sound of silence by simon and garfunkle is boring? try reading the lyrics and try to comprehend what they are saying. u just dont know go music when you truly hear it
