Why do they hang the main door in to the pubic toliet so to make you push the door to get in but use the germ invested handle to get out once you have washed your hands?

I often take my time drying my hands - therefore waiting for someone to come in so i can catch the door while it is open.

Im not even getting on to the taps!!!!

As I've said in part II, there is no way you can avoid all germs, phones, internet cafes, taps, bar nibbles, biting nails etc etc. So changing a handle on a door really would make no difference. If we went by all the rules we'd be walking round in white overalls with masks and not being allowed to touch a thing.
4getmenot, are you a microbiologist perchance ?

I understand what you are saying but we are talking about a design fault really with the building. If you think about how many years that toliet will be in use and the number of people that will use it. I would have thought hanging the door the opposite way would make overall hyginic sense.
yer I spose, the push down taps they got solved the problem with the taps, i'e not having to turn them off after. So maybe you could put it to Tony Blair :-) He's probably more likely to change the doors than do anything big :-)
Maybe if the door opened outwards it would be possible to knock out someone coming in. But then I suppose as it is somoene coming in can knock out another coming out !

Musing generally, I have always thought it a major design fault of nature or creation that the bum and genitalia are so close together. Similarly why having produced the tastiest and most versatile fish ever - the herring - give it so many tiny bones !

Tony Blair would change the doors to improve the germ situation and then terrorists would just being germs over to kill us all off. I would think they could smuggle the germs through customs undetected!
Anyone know where I can purchase one of these white overalls - after reading through these posts today it shocks me to learn that so many people find poor personal hygiene acceptable.
I accept the fact that we come into contact with far more germs than we could ever imagine but if we don't stick to the basic rules then there's nothing down for us.

How would you react if you found out after eating the perfect meal at a top resturant that the head chef - who carefully arranged each item of food on your plate by hand had been to the toilet for a poo and not washed his hands?

I'd be thinking what amount of bleach could I drink without killing myself!!

No you cant go back once you've posted. If my wuestion then makes no sense I post another saying *question* :-)
nope, you just have to join the line of idiots like the rest of us! Sadly, I am always making mistakes and that's due to my lack of knowledge on how to spell - no excuses, but instead of running through it and checking it via spell checker, I always manage to hit Submit! - damn it!

Thanks I don't feel so alone now!

I blame my fat fingers, long nails and blonde hair!
You can be so hygenic that you catch more bugs etc. Kids are catching colds, tummy bugs all the time. We never had all the bugs years ago.Mums were clean, but they weren`t as obssesed as some are nowadays. I can remember eating carrots straight from the ground after just a quick wipe with my hand. It didn`t do me any harm. Oh by the way, the thing that has most germs on believe it or not is money.
