I just feel for all the families of the victims from the many, many other unsolved murder cases which have had nowhere near the time or the estimated �6 million spent on them, as the Lawrence enquiry has.

Having spoke to people who lived in the area at the time, they believe there is a lot more to it than just a random racist murder.

Also why do race crimes against Blacks always get more media coverage than those against Whites??

Both equally as bad in my eyes and desserve the same coverage.

Well probably because his killer was found, charged, found guilty and sentenced. The police acted properly and the people responsible were caught - hardly a fair comparison?

Also about 6 months before the Stephen Lawrence murder there was a similar murder 200 yards further down Well Hall road when an Asian youth was stabbed and killed. Even I as a local don't remember his name.

Oneeyedvic.... I was referring to the reporting of the initial crime. Even before it became apparent that the police involved in the Lawrence case were incompetent, the case was still making headlines & received lots of coverage on national news.

I cannot ever remember the case of Kriss Donald getting any such coverage.

Dicko - I must confess, your memory of news coverage 10 years ago is far better than mine. You are probably right in that respect, but I honestly can't remember.

However, I would point out that the majority of newspapers have different editions for different area - and what is a front page story in Scotland, may not be a front page story in England.

I would agree that this story got a lot of news coverage - but there are often cases of one person getting a lot more coverage than another - it is really down to what sells newspapers more than anything else.
